…He then entered the Bauhaus in 1920 and became a teacher there, where he was the first to attempt the use of square shapes in glass painting. When the Bauhaus closed in 1933, he moved to the United States, where he taught at Black Mountain College in North Carolina and Yale University (head of the architecture and design department), while at the same time creating his Homage to the Square series through his thorough exploration of the relationship between shape and color.
