The old observatories in China, Korea, and India have already been mentioned. Current observatories in China include the Beijing Observatory, the Purple Mountain Observatory in Nanjing, and the Yunnan Observatory in Kunming, with the Beijing Observatory planning to build a 2m reflecting telescope. In India, a 234cm reflecting telescope is nearing completion at the Cavallur Observatory on the southeastern edge of the Deccan Plateau.
