Disorders include inhibition of thought, blocking of thought, flight of ideas, incoherent thinking, and perseveration. Inhibition of ideas means that the flow of ideas is inhibited and does not go smoothly. Blocking of thought means that the flow of ideas is suddenly interrupted. Flight of ideas means that thoughts fly from one to the next and it is difficult to reach the goal. Incoherence of thought means that consciousness is clear but the thought process lacks cohesion and speech is incoherent. Incoherent thinking means incoherent speech when consciousness is impaired. Perseveration means that the previous answer is repeated even when the question is changed. Disorders of thought content include dominant ideas, obsessions, and delusions. ...
