imide

Japanese: imide
imide

…A general term for compounds in which two hydrogen atoms of ammonia NH3 are replaced with the acyl group RCO-, also known simply as imide. This name was given to amides (acid amides) that have an imino group NH. Usually, it refers only to cyclic amides derived from dicarboxylic acids, and is often distinguished from chain-like secondary amides. The name is either the translation of the corresponding carboxylic acid followed by "imide," or a transliteration of the English name with the suffix "-ic acid" of the acid changed to "-imide." …
