… Tadamasa's son Wakamaru became the mountain monk of Mount Hiei, Niu Dewabo Ungen, and in 78 (Jishō 2) he was appointed as a public official by the head of the local government. He fought in the Jisho-Juei civil war under the command of Inaniwa Tokisada, the largest local official in Wakasa, and became a retainer of the Kamakura Shogunate. Ungen invited his teacher Kaiun to this area, and in 73 (Jōan 3) he built Yakushidō and entrusted his own land to Suemata. Kaiun also developed Bajōmen in 86 (Bun'ji 2). However, when Tokisada fell from grace and Wakasa (Tsūmi) Tadasue became the guardian and land steward, Ungen's position became difficult, and he retired in 1208 (Jōgen 2) after handing over his land to Tokisada's son Tokikuni. …
