Fugu vermicularis porphyreus (English: Fugu vermicularis porphyreus)

A marine fish (illustration) of the Tetraodontiformes order, family Tetraodontiidae. It is found in southwestern Sakhalin, along the coast of Hokkaido, and in the East China Sea. It is more common in cold seas. Its skin is smooth and lacks obvious spines, hence the name "namera pufferfish." The dorsal side of the body is gray-brown with a slight bluish tinge, the ventral side is white, and there are yellow vertical stripes on the sides. There is a large black spot behind the pectoral fin similar to that of a tiger pufferfish, but there is no white ring around it like in the tiger pufferfish. The tail fin has a slightly concave rear edge and is green or yellowish brown, and the anal fin is yellow.

フグ目フグ科の海産魚(イラスト)。サハリン南西部，北海道沿岸から東シナ海にかけて分布。どちらかといえば寒海に多い。皮膚には明らかな棘状（きよくじよう）突起がなく滑らかなので，ナメラフグの別名がある。体の背側はやや青みを帯びた灰褐色で，腹側は白く，側面に黄色の縦帯がある。胸びれの後方にトラフグに似た大きな黒色斑紋があるが，その周囲にトラフグのような白色の環はない。尾びれは後縁がわずかにくぼみ，緑色ないし黄色を帯びた褐色，しりびれは黄色である。
