...A neurological disease caused by inflammation of the brain parenchyma. Some are caused by direct effects of pathogens on the brain parenchyma, while others may occur secondary to various infectious diseases or after vaccinations, and may have an allergic mechanism. (1) Encephalitis caused by pathogens directly attacking the brain parenchyma. Most pathogens, including Japanese encephalitis, Economia encephalitis, and herpes simplex encephalitis, are viruses. Symptoms begin with fever, headache, nausea, and vomiting, and can progress to impaired consciousness and mental symptoms. It is not uncommon for aftereffects to remain even after recovery. ...
