…生没年不詳。彼の〈ミモス〉は，おもに都市下層民の日常生活の滑稽な断面を風刺詩の韻律に乗せて朗唱用の科白劇に仕立てたもので，ソフロンSōphrōnの散文による〈ミモス〉とヒッポナクスHippōnaxの〈イアンボス〉詩の双方の影響が認められるところから，特に〈ミミアンボスmimiambos〉と称される。若干の作品の舞台がコス島と特定されるため，コス島に縁があったことが推定されているが，生涯についてはまったく不明である。…
