Mimulus sessilifolius

Japanese: オオバミゾホオズキ（英語表記）Mimulus sessilifolius

A perennial plant of the Scrophulariaceae family. It is found on the Japan Sea coast from the Chubu region of Honshu northward, in Hokkaido, the southern Kuril Islands, and Sakhalin, and usually grows long, slender underground stems to form colonies in mountain wetlands. The stems are square and upright, reaching a height of 10-30 cm, with opposite leaves. The leaves are ovate or oval, stalkless, 2.5-6 cm long, 1-3 cm wide, and have coarse serrated edges. In July and August, a single flower with a long, slender stalk is produced in the axil at the top of the stem. The corolla is yellow and tubular, with five shallow lobes at the top. There are four stamens inside the flower tube.
