This is an old town in Shozu District, occupying the eastern half of Shodo Island in Kagawa Prefecture. The settlements of Kusakabe, Yasuda, and Nouma facing Uchiumi Bay are known for soy sauce production, which developed from a side job for boatmen, and are also prolific producers of tsukudani (a type of food cooked in soy sauce). Olives are also cultivated, and the former Nishimura area was the first experimental olive growing site in Japan. High-quality granite stone is also produced here. There are shipping services to Hanshin and Takamatsu from both the ports of Kusakabe and Sakate. There is a Kankakei valley. In March 2006, it was merged with Ikeda Town in Shozu District to become Shodoshima Town in Shozu District. 61.52 km2 .
