OECD Nuclear Energy Agency - OECD Nuclear Energy Agency
The Nuclear Energy Agency of OECD, abbreviated as OECD-NEA, was established in 1958 under the guidance of the Organization for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC), the predecessor of the OECD. It has various research institutes with the aim of jointly developing peaceful nuclear energy among Western European countries and jointly managing its use. Later, non-European associate member countries such as Japan, the United States, and Canada officially joined, and in 1972 it was given its current name as a subordinate organization of the OECD. It is currently implementing projects such as the development of a data bank, the International Food Irradiation Programme (development of food irradiation technology and safety testing), and the Halden Project (light water reactor fuel irradiation testing, a program related to computer use). As of 1999, 27 of the 29 OECD member countries are members, excluding New Zealand and Poland. Headquarters: Paris. →Nuclear Energy Management
