Eisei era

...His real name was Yi Ho. Along with the previous king, Yeongjo, he is known as the king of the literary revival, and the period of these two kings is also called the Yeongjeong Era. At a young age, he witnessed the incident (1762) in which his father, Crown Prince Sado, was locked in a chest by his grandfather, Yeongjo, and died. After witnessing the subsequent conflict between the Si faction (who sympathized with the crown prince) and the Peer faction (who criticized the crown prince), he aimed to eliminate the conflicts between relatives and factions and to establish royal authority through civil rule throughout his life.
