Snapshots - Snapshots

Japanese:
Snapshots - Snapshots
Also called a snapshot. A photography technique for quickly capturing a scene, event, or person in front of you in an instant in your daily life, or a photograph taken in this way. Photographs can be taken both indoors and outdoors, and the subjects are diverse, but they are distinct from "product photography," where food or other items are photographed after careful preparation, and "portrait photography," where the subject's prior consent is obtained. It is said to be a diversion of the term "snap shot," a hunting term for a technique for quickly shooting a bird that suddenly takes flight, and snap also means "to jump at (an opportunity, etc.)." French photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Ihei Kimura, who captured the historic masterpiece "The Decisive Moment," are said to be "masters of the snapshot shot."
The background to the widespread use of snapshot photography is the evolution of cameras, which have become smaller and lighter. In particular, the appearance of the Leica L and Leica M models from the German luxury camera manufacturer Leica is said to have dramatically improved snapshot photography, and they are still used by people who love snapshot photography today. Kimura, mentioned above, was also said to be a "Leica expert."
Furthermore, since most mobile phones now have built-in cameras, even people who don't normally enjoy photography as a hobby can now easily enjoy taking snapshots, whether consciously or unconsciously. However, snapshots often involve taking pictures of people passing by without their permission, and the issue of portrait rights, which has been unclear until now, about the extent to which it is acceptable to take such pictures, is becoming more apparent.
