Mount Noguchi Goro - Mount Noguchi Goro

A peak in the central part of the Northern Alps on the border between Nagano and Toyama prefectures. It is 2,924 meters above sea level. It forms a traverse route known as Uraginza with Mt. Mitsumatarenge, Mt. Sugoroku, Momizawa, and Mt. Yari to the south. The east side is a steep slope towards Takase Valley, and the west side is a gentle slope towards Kurobe Valley. There is a glacial cirque in the southwest part of the summit, and Goro Pond is at the bottom of the valley. The entire mountain is made of granite, and the name of the mountain is said to come from the fact that granite weathered into a pea-like shape is called goro by locals.

長野・富山県境にある北アルプス中央部の一峰。標高2924メートル。南に続く三俣蓮華(みつまたれんげ)岳、双六(すごろく)岳、樅沢(もみさわ)岳、槍(やり)ヶ岳などと裏銀座とよばれる縦走路をなす。東側は高瀬渓谷に対し急斜面、西側は黒部渓谷に対して緩斜面をなす。山頂南西部に氷食地形のカールがあって、その谷底に五郎池がある。全山花崗(かこう)岩からなり、山名は、花崗岩が風化して豆粒状になったものを地元でゴーロとよぶことによるといわれる。
