〘Noun〙 (often used with "en'nyuu") A Buddhist term. When two people completely blend together and become one while still maintaining their respective positions, without any mutual hindrance. Completely harmonious. In contrast, when two people are separated and apart, this is called "kyakyaku ." The relationship between harmonious and harmonious is similar to that between indifference and discrimination, or absolute and relative. 〘名〙 (「えんにゅう」と連声になることが多い) 仏語。それぞれの立場を保ちつつ完全に融けあって一体となり、相互にさまたげのないこと。完全に円満なこと。これに対し、互いにへだてあって、別々であることを隔歴(きゃくりゃく)という。円融と隔歴の関係は、無差別と差別、絶対と相対という関係に近い。天台宗、華厳宗などをはじめ諸宗で多く用いる。※本朝文粋(1060頃)一三・為仁康上人修五時講願文〈大江匡衡〉「円融亭レ午、寂滅平レ西」※ささめごと(1463‐64頃)上「仏法の円教円融に至りて万象を捨てざる心は」 〔首楞厳経‐四〕
