Molybdenum Blue

...It is also used as a synthetic intermediate for dyes and medicines, as an antioxidant, and as a polymerization inhibitor. It produces molybdenum blue by reducing ammonium phosphomolybdate or ammonium silicomolybdate, which are produced by the reaction of phosphoric acid, arsenic acid, and silicic acid with molybdic acid, so it is used to detect elements such as phosphorus, arsenic, and silicon. It is synthesized by reducing p -benzoquinone, which is obtained by oxidizing aniline with sodium dichromate and sulfuric acid, with sulfurous acid.
