This is a commentary on the Engishiki Shinmyocho written by Yoshida Kanetomo in 1503 (Bunki 3). The Engishiki Shinmyocho refers to volumes 9 and 10 of the Engishiki, which was completed in 927 (Encho 5), and lists the names of 3,132 shrines to be worshiped by the Jingikan and provincial governors of various provinces under the Ritsuryo system. As the name "Headnotes" suggests, this book is a compilation of notes that Kanetomo originally wrote in the upper column, which were later compiled into one volume so that only the notes can be seen today. The author, Kanetomo, is the master of Yoshida Shinto (Yuiitsu-shu Genshinto, Urabe Shinto). Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
