North Crimean Canal

The surface of the Crimean peninsula is mostly flat, with a semi-desert or steppe-like vegetation covering the land. The main part of the isthmus is crossed by the railway line from Kherson and the North Crimean Canal (402.6 km long, from Lake Kakhovka on the Dnieper River to Kerch on the eastern tip of the Crimean peninsula, completed in 1971).
