Chemical formula: C 6 H 5・CHCl 2 . A colorless liquid with a boiling point of 205°C. It is produced by photochlorination of toluene. It is insoluble in water, but soluble in ethyl alcohol and ether. It becomes benzaldehyde when subjected to the action of alkali or concentrated sulfuric acid.
