1848‐1933 Russian pianist. Studied at the Vienna Conservatory and made her debut in her hometown of Odessa in 1869. From the 1980s she performed in various parts of Europe, mainly in Berlin and Paris, and from the 1990s she also traveled to America. She was particularly skilled at performing Chopin's music, and was known for her habit of adding improvised embellishments that were not written in the score while performing, and for her habit of muttering to herself.
