Druzhinin (1824-64), N. Nekrasov, the historians Timofei N. Granovskii (1813-55), S. Solovyov, the legal historians Konstantin D. Kavelin (1818-85), Chicherin Boris N. Chicherin (1828-1904), the economists Ivan V. Vernadskii (1821-84), and Ivan K. Babst (1823-81). Others included the small but important group of writers and critics, such as Vasilii P. Botkin (1812-69), who was from the merchant class; the radical thinker Belinsky, who was from the lower classes; and aristocrats Herzen and Ogarov, who inherited the revolutionary tradition of the Decembrists.
