…As for painting, it did not have the same international appeal as sculpture, but around 1500 a Croatian school of painting was formed, centered in Dubrovnik. In Bosnia, the Renaissance style was probably brought from Hungary just before it came under Ottoman control in 1463, as can be inferred from architectural fragments remaining in Bobovac, where the royal court was located. In Radimlja, many tombs of nobles from the 15th and 16th centuries, with sarcophagus-shaped stones carved with hunting scenes, figures, and geometric patterns, remain, and although their relationship with the heretical Bogomils is unclear, they show the simplicity of folk art. …
