A town in Higashi Shirakawa District, southern Fukushima Prefecture. Hanawa, located in the center of the Suigun Line, is a settlement at the mouth of the Kawakami River, a tributary of the Kuji River, and in the early modern period was the site of the magistrate's office. The town is mountainous and rich in forest resources, producing rice, konjac, and vegetables. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 211.41 km2 . 9,884 people (2010).
