Edo Senke style

Japanese:
Edo Senke style

One of the schools of tea ceremony founded by Kawakami Fuhaku. A senior disciple of the 7th head of the Omotesenke school, Joshinsai Soza, Fuhaku was ordered by his master to go to Edo and work to popularize the Senke tea tradition, and the tea tradition passed down by his descendants is called "Edo Senke." At the age of 55, Fuhaku handed over the name Sosetsu to his heir, Jitokusai Soin, and moved to the Mizuno family's retreat in Ushigome Akagi. The school then declined for a time with the Meiji Restoration during the reign of the 4th head, Kakuso Fuhaku (died 1869), but today, Kawakami Kansetsu, head of the Yayoi-cho Edo Senke, and Kawakami Sosetsu, head of the Ikenohata Edo Senke, both inherit Fuhaku's tea ceremony.
