A general term for annelids belonging to the Polychaeta family, Polynoidae. In a broader sense, it can also include the families Polynoidae, Polynoidae, and Polynoidae. Most Polynoidae live under stones in the intertidal zone or between the roots of seaweed, but some live in symbiosis by attaching themselves to the surface of the bodies of starfish, sea urchins, and crinoids, and some live in symbiosis inside the tubes of burrowing worms. Dorsal scales are arranged in pairs on both sides of the dorsal body, at intervals like roof tiles. The name "scale worm" comes from this.
