One Piece - Wanpisu (English) one-piece dress

A woman's outerwear in which the upper and lower parts are one piece. Even if there are seams or seams, it is still structurally one piece. Until the late 19th century, when two-piece suits appeared in women's clothing, all clothing was one piece, and complex seams at the waist and hips were fastened together with hidden hooks or strings. Two-piece clothing was first adopted for women's sportswear, and so it was important to emphasize functionality, whereas a one-piece dress is unique to women and tends to give off a dressy vibe. Among women's ready-made clothing today, it has roughly the same sales value as sweaters and slacks, accounting for around 16%.

上半身と下半身が一連になった女子用外衣のこと。縫い目線や切り替え線が入っても、構造的に一連になったものをいう。婦人服では二部形式のスーツが現れる19世紀後期まで、衣装はすべて一部形式であり、ウエストや腰の複雑な切り替えは、隠しフックや紐(ひも)で留め合わせて整えるという方法がとられていた。二部形式の衣装は、婦人のスポーツ服にまず取り入れられたように、機能性を重視したものであるのに対し、ワンピースは、ドレッシーな雰囲気を出しやすい女性特有の衣装でもある。現在の婦人既製衣料のなかではセーター類やスラックスとほぼ同じ販売額を示し、約16％前後を占めている。
