Warambe grass - Warambe grass

Japanese:
Warambe grass - Warambe grass

A Kyogen scripture written by Yaemon Toraakira, the 13th head of the Okura school in the early Edo period. It is a work in which Yaemon Toraakira added his own annotations to each section of "Mukashigatari" (Old Stories), completed in 1651 (Keian 4), and includes a family tree, an autobiography, and other information. It has a total of 89 sections (6 and 88 sections are missing), as well as a colophon from 1660 (Manji 3). The content is wide-ranging, including etiquette and rules for Kyogen and general Noh stories, and it has a hint of pedantic pedantry, but it is consistent in its passion for establishing the tradition of Kyogen as a classical art form, criticizing the emerging Sagi school, which was very realistic at the time. Among the few Kyogen scriptures available, this is the most substantial.
