...It is also simply called jurisdiction. The terms judicial jurisdiction and competent court are also used to express the same meaning, but this is a difference in perspective. From the perspective of a particular court, it is a question of what range of cases the court has the authority to handle, that is, a question of judicial jurisdiction (also simply called jurisdiction), while from the perspective of a particular case or person, it is a question of which court exercises jurisdiction over that case or person, that is, a question of the competent court.
