...It is located in the mountains of the Kitayama mountain range. According to temple legend, in 1154 (Kuju 1), Saien (Kanku) built a hall in a rock cave and enshrined the principal image of the Thousand-Armed Kannon (an important cultural property). Originally, it was also called Daihi-san Temple, and statues of Acala and Bishamonten (both important cultural properties) were donated at the imperial request of Emperor Toba.
