From December to January of the following year, dense corymbs are produced at the ends of the branches, and flower heads consist of five pale pink-purple tubular flowers. The involucre is tubular and 6 millimeters long, with five involucre pieces arranged in a row. It is a single species and genus endemic to Japan, found only on Hahajima and Mukojima in the Ogasawara Islands.
