〘Noun〙① A board that decorates both ends of the box ridge of cypress bark roofing or shingle roofing . It is still called this even if there is no demon face. [Kamijo Mirage (1758)]② A brown ore mined in the Seto region of Aichi Prefecture. It is so named because it is flat and resembles a demon tile. When it is baked and powdered into a red shell-like form, it is called akae-yaku (red enamel) and is used for tenmoku glazes and underglaze paintings. ③ A quick guide to the steps on the board made by "drinkers" (undercover traders) who buy and sell for customers.
