Wachi [town] - Wachi
A former town in Funai-gun, central Kyoto Prefecture. Occupying mountainous land in the middle reaches of the Yura River, the town is involved in agriculture and forestry. Chestnuts and other local specialties are produced here. Wire processing and automobile parts are manufactured here. The Sanin Main Line runs through the town. In October 2005, the town merged with Tanba-cho and Mizuho-cho in Funai-gun to become Kyotanba-cho in Funai-gun. Area 119.25 km2 . Population 4,049 (2003).
