A former town in Funai-gun, central Kyoto Prefecture. Occupying mountainous land in the middle reaches of the Yura River, the town is involved in agriculture and forestry. Chestnuts and other local specialties are produced here. Wire processing and automobile parts are manufactured here. The Sanin Main Line runs through the town. In October 2005, the town merged with Tanba-cho and Mizuho-cho in Funai-gun to become Kyotanba-cho in Funai-gun. Area 119.25 km2 . Population 4,049 (2003). 京都府中部,船井郡の旧町。由良川中流域の山地を占め,農林業を営む。クリなどの特産がある。線材加工,自動車部品の加工が行われる。山陰本線が通じる。2005年10月,船井郡丹波町,瑞穂町と合併し町制,船井郡京丹波町となる。119.25km2。4049人(2003)。
