A collective name for three major fires that occurred in Edo during the Genroku period (1688-1704). The fire in 1697 broke out at Zenshinji Temple in Otsuka (currently Bunkyo Ward), and spread from Kohinata to the Ushigome, Bancho, and Kojimachi areas, where many of the residences of samurai and vassals and landowners were located. The fire in the following year (1698) broke out in Minaminabe-cho (currently Chuo Ward), and spread as far north as Senju. The fire in 1703 broke out at the Mito clan's upper residence in Koishikawa, and spread from Hongo and Asakusa across the Sumida River to Honjo and Fukagawa, destroying Yushima Tenjin (Yushima Tenmangu Shrine) and Yushima Seido.
