Japanese: ワイエスじゅういち - ワイエスジュウイチ（英語表記）YS-11

A medium-sized twin-engine turboprop transport aircraft developed and manufactured by Japan Airlines Manufacturing Co., Ltd. It entered service in 1965. By 1973, 182 aircraft had been produced and some were exported overseas. It was in service as a passenger aircraft in Japan until 2003. It was also deployed to the Self-Defense Forces, with 12 aircraft still in operation with the Air Self-Defense Force (as of December 2015).
[Additional information] "YS" comes from the initials of the Roman alphabet characters for "transport aircraft" and "design," which were the names of the Transport Aircraft Design Research Group, the predecessor of Japan Airlines Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

日本航空製造が開発・製造した双発ターボプロップエンジン方式の中型輸送機。昭和40年（1965）運用開始。昭和48年（1973）までに182機が生産され、海外にも輸出された。国内では平成15年（2003）まで旅客機として就航。自衛隊にも配備され、航空自衛隊では現在も12機が運用されている（平成27年12月現在）。
[補説]「YS」は日本航空製造株式会社の前身であった「輸送機設計研究会」の「輸送機」と「設計」のローマ字での頭文字に由来。
