A system of units used in atomic physics with the fundamental physical constants elementary charge e , the rest mass of the electron m _e , and the Dirac constant ℏ ( h /2π, h is the Planck constant). In this system, the unit of length is the Bohr radius, the unit of energy is twice the Rydberg (27.2 eV), etc. The common symbol is AU. This system of units was proposed by DR Hartree in 1927.
