Joruri Tales - Joruri Monogatari
A late medieval storybook. Also known as "Twelve Stages Storybook" or "Twelve Stages of Joruri." It may have been written in the mid-Muromachi period. The author is unknown. It consists of 12 stages. It is a love story about Ushiwaka, who goes down to Oshu accompanied by Kinbai Kichitsugu, and falls in love with Joruri Gozen, the daughter of a wealthy man from Yahagi, Mikawa. It became popular as a storybook in the early Edo period, and is said to be the origin of the name Joruri.

中世後期の物語草子。《十二段草子》《浄瑠璃十二段》とも。室町中期の成立か。作者不詳。12段よりなる。金売吉次に連れられて奥州へ下る牛若が,三河矢矧(やはぎ)の長者の娘浄瑠璃御前と結ばれる恋物語。江戸初期に語り物として流行し,浄瑠璃の名称の起源をなすといわれる。
