Seven kings who are said to have reigned in the early days of the founding of Rome (753-510 BC according to legend). They are the founder Romulus, followed by Numa Pompilius, Tullus Hostilius, Ancus Marcius, Tarquinius Priscus, Servius Tullius, and Tarquinius Superbus. Some of them are real people, and the last three kings are of Etruscan descent. None of them were dictatorial kings, and the power of the Senate seems to have been strong. The monarchy collapsed when the Etruscan king was expelled by the Roman aristocrats.
