Coelostat - Coelostat (English spelling)

Coelostat - Coelostat (English spelling)

A device that always sends light from the sun and other celestial bodies, which undergo diurnal motion, in a fixed direction and directs it to observation equipment such as a spectrometer fixed on the ground. It consists of two plane mirrors, the first of which is in a plane that includes the polar axis that is parallel to the Earth's rotational axis, and when the polar axis is driven from east to west at half the speed of the diurnal motion, the light from the celestial bodies is reflected in a fixed direction. The second surface is used to reflect this light in the desired direction. Unlike a siderostat, a unique feature is that the image of the sun does not rotate when the polar axis is driven.
