Japan-China Friendship Association

Japanese: 日中友好協会 - にっちゅうゆうこうきょうかい

Its full name is the Japan-China Friendship Association. It was formed in October 1950 (first chairman Matsumoto Jiichiro, chairman Uchiyama Kanzo). Before the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China, it played a major role as one of the windows of exchange with China, such as in dealing with the issue of the repatriation of Japanese nationals remaining in China. However, in 1966, as relations between the Communist parties of Japan and China deteriorated, the association split up, and non-Japanese Communist Party members formed a separate association, the Japan-China Friendship Association (Orthodox). In 1980, the Orthodox name was dropped, and in 1982, the association was reorganized from a single nationwide organization into a federation of friendship associations at the prefectural level.

全称は日本中国友好協会。1950年10月に結成された(初代会長松本治一郎，同理事長内山完造)。日中国交正常化以前は中国との交流の窓口の一つとして，残留日本人の帰国問題などで大きな役割を果たしたが，66年，日中両国共産党の関係悪化にともなって分裂し，非日共系の人々は別に日中友好協会〈正統〉を結成した。〈正統〉は80年にその付称を削除し，82年，従来の全国単一組織から都道府県単位の友好協会の連合体に改組した。
