Kanze Motonobu

...At the time of the Meiji Restoration, the 15th head of the Kanze school, Motoki (1844-1924), moved to Shizuoka together with the head of the shite Kanze school, but later returned to Tokyo and became famous as a modern master. The current head of the school is the 16th head, Motonobu Kanze (1931-, Motonobu's grandson), and there are about 20 actors of the school registered with the Nohgaku Association, mainly in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kyoto. The style of the school is more subdued and powerful than that of the Konparu school, with straight, sharp-edged handling of the bachi (sticks), and the location of the kakegoe and the vocal technique retain an old-fashioned style. ...
