One of the rocky peaks in the Mont Blanc group in the French Alps. It is the highest peak on a continuous ridge of rocky peaks sandwiched between the Argentière Glacier to the north and the Talefre Glacier, a tributary of the Mer de Glace Glacier to the south. It is 4,122m above sea level. It was first climbed in 1865 by E. Whymper and others. If you take the cable car from Argentière (1,252m above sea level), 8km upstream from Chamonix, to Aiguilles des Grands Montéts (3,297m above sea level), you can see it right in front of you.
