Sankey, ID (English) SankeyID

…American Congregationalist evangelist. He was an uneducated shoe salesman, but after his conversion experience (1855), he wanted to spread the joy of salvation through the Christian gospel to many people. He teamed up with hymn writer and singer Ira David Sankey (1840-1908) to hold revival meetings in theaters and public halls in major cities in England and America, preaching to many people and converting them. He was also active in Sunday schools, the YMCA movement, and overseas missionary work, and founded the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago (1889) to train missionaries. …
