Also called lawsonite. Its chemical composition is CaAl 2 Si 2 O 7 (OH) 2 ・H 2 O, and it is one of the rock-forming minerals belonging to the orthorhombic crystal system. It has short columnar, sometimes plate-like or massive crystals parallel to (001), and is white or bluish white in color. It has a Mohs hardness of 6, a specific gravity of 3.09, and perfect cleavage at {100} and {001}.
