Lawsonite (English spelling)

Japanese: ローソナイト（英語表記）lawsonite

Also called lawsonite. Its chemical composition is CaAl ₂ Si ₂ O ₇ (OH) ₂ ･H ₂ O, and it is one of the rock-forming minerals belonging to the orthorhombic crystal system. It has short columnar, sometimes plate-like or massive crystals parallel to (001), and is white or bluish white in color. It has a Mohs hardness of 6, a specific gravity of 3.09, and perfect cleavage at {100} and {001}. It is found only in metamorphic rocks, and is one of the minerals that characterize the lanthanite rock facies. [Kenichiro Aoki]
