The capital of Dominica. Formerly known as Charlotte Town. A port city located at the mouth of the Roseau River on the southwest coast of Dominica, which is in the eastern West Indies, northern Lesser Antilles, and the southern tip of the Leeward Islands. Exports include limes, lime juice, vegetable oil, and spices. The city is home to Roman Catholic and Anglican cathedrals, the Victoria Memorial Museum, government buildings, and botanical gardens. There are waterfalls and hot springs nearby, making it the island's tourist center. Population: 13,600 (2009).
