sanctuary

In Japan, the current category is the "no hunting zones" established by the "Law on Wildlife Protection and Hunting." Other animal sanctuaries exist for the safe management and propagation of endangered or threatened wild animals, and are often called sanctuaries. Examples include the reserve for the American bison, the reserve for the elephant and rhino in Africa, and the Ghar Conservation Area in India, the only remaining area for the Asiatic lion.
