Yatsu [Hot Spring] - Yatsu

Japanese: 谷津[温泉] - やつ

This hot spring is located in Kawazu Town, Kamo District, in the southeastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture. It is one of the Kawazu hot spring resorts along the Kawazu River, which flows into Kawazuhama on the southeastern coast of the Izu Peninsula. There are several inns in this rural area, surrounded on three sides by the Amagi mountain range. The source of the hot spring is on the banks of the Yatsu River, a tributary of the Kawazu River, and the spring quality is a simple, weakly saline spring with temperatures of 41 to 100 degrees Celsius. The hot spring has an abundant supply of water, and the heat from the spring is used for the cultivation of vegetables, fruit trees, and flowers. The area around the hot spring is known as a famous spot for irises, and many visitors come to see the flowers in early summer. It is the birthplace of Kawazu Saburo Sukeyasu, who is known for "The Tale of Soga," and this region is home to many legends and historical sites related to the Soga brothers Juro and Goro.

静岡県南東部，賀茂郡河津町にある温泉。伊豆半島南東岸の河津浜へ流れ出る河津川に沿って分布する河津温泉郷の一つ。三方を天城連峰に囲まれた田園地帯に数軒の宿がある。源泉は河津川支流の谷津川のほとりにわき，泉質は単純泉，弱食塩泉で，41～100℃。湯量は豊かで，泉熱利用による野菜類，果樹，草花などの促成栽培も行われている。温泉付近はショウブの名所として知られ，初夏には花見客も多い。《曾我物語》で知られる河津三郎祐泰の出生地で，この地方には曾我十郎･五郎兄弟の伝説や史跡が多い。
