? - 1693 (Genroku 6) A haiku poet of the early Edo period. His surname was Zushi, also known as Kondo, and he was commonly known as Sakichi. His pen name was Touhakudo. He worked in the dyeing business in Touge Village, Dewa Province, but became a disciple of Basho, who came to visit him on his journey along the Narrow Road to the Deep North. He left behind the "Kokusho Nanakasou" (Romaru Kokusho) during this time. In 1692, he visited Basho in Edo, where he was given the "Mikazuki Nikki." After a pilgrimage to Ise Shrine, he visited Shiko in Kyoto, but died there on February 2nd the following year. According to "Mutsuchidori," he was not yet 40 years old.
