A painter at the Ming Painting Academy in China. A native of Guangdong, his pen name was Yishan. He excelled at ink-wash paintings of flowers and birds, and served at the Ninchiden Palace during the Koji era (1488-1505). In contrast to the realistic coloring style of Ryuki, he became a representative painter of the sketchy school. His representative works include "Phoenix" (Shokoku-ji Temple, Kyoto) and "White Feathers of Camellia" (Shanghai Museum).
