Argentine tango band leader and composer. He taught himself to play the violin and other instruments, and began his career as a tango performer in 1906, forming a quintet in 1916. He then formed a large band called Orquesta Típica, which toured Paris in 1925 with great success, and has since remained at the forefront of the music scene.
