Lang yá (English spelling)

Japanese: 琅邪 - ろうや（英語表記）Láng yá

An ancient place name in China. It is also written as Langya, Langya, or Langhuan. During the Spring and Autumn period, King Gu Jian of Yue established a fortress overlooking the Yellow Sea in the area southwest of present-day Jiaonan County, Shandong Province, and formed alliances with various feudal lords. The First Emperor of Qin established Langya County here as his administrative center, and after the Fengshan Incident on Mount Tai in the 28th year of the A.D. (219 B.C.), he established Langya Terrace and erected a monument to the Qin dynasty (Langya Terrace Stone Inscription). The Western Han also established Langya County in what is now Zhucheng County, and the Later Han established the Langya Kingdom centered on what is now Linyi County. The Wang Dao clan, which was considered the leading noble family in the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties, originated from Langya and Linyi.

中国の古地名。瑯邪，瑯琊，琅玡とも書く。春秋時代越王句践（こうせん）が現在の山東省膠南県南西の地に黄海を望む台館を起こし，諸侯と会盟を行ったという。秦の始皇帝はここを治所に琅邪郡を置き，28年(前219)の泰山封禅ののち琅邪台を設け，秦朝の頌徳碑を建てた(琅邪台刻石)。前漢も今の諸城県を治所に琅邪郡を置き，後漢は今の臨沂（りんぎ）県を中心に琅邪国とした。東晋･南朝で第一流の名族とされた王導一族は，琅邪･臨沂の出身である。
